To keep it deservedly brief as possible, these 2 dudes really bugged me this year.

1. R. Kelly with his twisted, long-winded, no hook having “In the Closet” Hip-Hopera
2. The drunken buffoon in the Tanqueray ads,“Tony Sinclair.”

I can’t say that I was completely impervious to the curiosity of these 2 dudes this year, but I can say that in between my chuckles I was bugged by their antics...

Racism; A Pandemic

Wouldn't you like to weigh in?

I frequent the web sites of almost all countries because I am curious what they are thinking and doing.  I get the most information from blogs of course and uncensored discussion.  It really is an eye opener to find yourself on the Australian pages and see that they are struggling with racism and rioting that is racially and religiously based?

Then I go to a Hong Kong page and see that they are discussing how HongKongers (Ethnic Chinese) are so incredibly racist and rude against other ethnicities that live in their country. 

My Aint Tiny

A Black Woman that Strutted her Stuff...

My aunt Tiny was a small brown skinned woman. She loved music, especially Billy Holidy. Tiny was a quiet woman, a good cook.  Tiny was known for carrying an ice pick.  Her weapon of choice, kept slid down against her thigh in the top of her stockings.  Tiny was known to ice pick boyfriends when they got out of hand. 

My mother told me that back in the thirties on the south side of Chicago there was a man raping women.  It got so, women were afraid to leave their houses to go to work, or shop.  Children wouldn't play on the front stoops.  The police did not get involved if black women were victims.  And so the rapist continued on his spree.  As my mother tells it, Aunt Tiny decided one day she had enough...

Brothas Beyond the Brink...

What were they thinking?...

Just when you thought "...The Verge..." was just a blog, Lawton Johnson and Andrew Deshawn Canty--both 18 years of age--decide to cross the boundaries of common sense and enter a world of "foolery" in Raleigh, North Carolina.

It is believed that Johnson cultivated a romantic relationship with a White 26-year-old Monique Berkley while her 46-year-old husband, Paul Berkely was away valiantly fighting Bush's war for oil against "Terrorism"  in the Middle East.

After barely home in North Carolina for 4 days, Paul Berkely was shot dead in the head. Shortly afterward Johnson and Canty along with Monique Berkely were all arrested and charged with 1st degree murder regarding the death of Paul Berkely.

What kills me about the ordeal:

1. They're all collectively broke and at the mercy of defense from a court appointed lawyer--and Johnny Cochran can't help them from the grave.
2. No kids involved.
3. No one had a white Bronco to smash off in the sunset on a national TV covered car chase.
4. No bloody, tight-ass glove.
5. No racist Mark Fhurman sniffing around the crime scene.

King Kong: On the Verge?...

Let’s keep it real: When it comes to the classic storyline of King Kong, It’s hard not to correlate the capture and display of the gargantuan gorilla with the historical/social plight and sexual stigmatization of the African-American male, the taboo relationship between Black men & White women, and the Black man’s ultimate consequential fall to the White man for it.

Now, before you accuse me of being “too sensitive” or quick to pull the “race card,” please know that I entered the flick with a very high tolerance toward the blatant symbolism and similarities--really.  I mean I had to if I were to enjoy it with my 9-year-old son. But yo: A brotha can only take so much.

I mean damn,  even Ray Charles would agree after watching nearly 3 hours of Kong big pimping and getting hated on: King Kong is Black!

Toccara: America's Next Top Super Model Over Looked?

It's been a while since Toccara got booted off Tyra Banks' Realty Show, "America's Next Top Model" where young girls compete to win a super model contract to blast off their careers as models...blah, blah, blah...

Now, I can't say that I watch this show too much, but I did catch Toccara on during the  3rd season, and ever since then, I've been sprung.  To say the least, Toccara is beautiful and she naturally embodies what makes a Sista physically unique as a Black Woman...

Friendship and Intamacy: To mix or not to mix?

I can count the number of ex-girlfriends that I'm still friends with on 1 finger.  All the others went off in their own separate directions--as so did I. 

What's interesting is that when me and my ex-girlfriends were a cool couple, I couldn't ever see us anything less than friends.  Yet, somehow, our severance came with a friendship casualty.

Grown Ass Black Woman…Sucking Her Thumb

True Story: So I’m driving ever so slowly in the thick of morning traffic and I look over to my right and I see this grown ass Sista’ sitting behind the wheel with this frozen dumb stare, with her tongue half-way spilling out her mouth and sucking on her thumb.

It looked so bad all I could do is shake my head in pity…And you know how you can feel somebody looking at you? Well, I looked and shook my head enough for her to turn and see my disapproval.  And when she saw me shaking my head with a sneer on my face,she exploded!  I mean, she was jumping up and down and aggressively yelling at me...
